The dedication of Dorr's teaching staff is second to none as they work tirelessly and together to help every child be his/her personal best. Although the Ohio Department of Education's (ODE) system for rating schools is changing, it is important to reflect that for the past several years, the efforts of Dorr Elementary School students have allowed the school to achieve high ratings from the ODE.
We are excited to welcome the “bees” back to the Dorr Beehive! We know that things are changing daily but the one thing that does not change is our excitement to educate the students of our Dorr Community. It is truly their smiling faces and enthusiasm for learning that keep us going.
As we transition back to school for the 2021-22 school year, we want to share a few items with you. First, we are here to assist you. Mrs. Hadsell, Ms. Kaiser, our wonderful secretaries, and myself are available to answer your questions and assist you with your need. We have placed class lists on the front doors of Dorr Elementary along with teacher names and classroom numbers. We are excited to see our Grade 1-5 students on our first day of August 16. Our kindergarten boys will join us on August 18 and the kindergarten girls (no boys) will join us on August 19. We cannot wait to see you.
We also have Ms. Kalo, our school counselor, and Mrs. Rechtine, our Social Emotional Learning Coach, to support your children with their social-emotional needs. In addition, Renewed Minds is an agency that works at Dorr to support students’ mental health as well. If we can provide support, please reach out to us.
We also want to share that we have an amazing Dorr Parents’ Club that supports Dorr Elementary both in friend-raising and fund-raising. Please plan to join us for our first Dorr Parents’ Club meeting that is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th at 6:30 pm. At this time, we will plan on meeting in person in the cafeteria and allow others to participate in a virtual option. Please plan to join us!
